SKOWHEGAN, Maine - In an ever-changing environment, Skowhegan Savings' president and CEO, David Cyr, addresses customers, the community and employees in an open letter on the precautions the bank is taking amid the COVID-19 pandemic to encourage the safety of the bank’s customers and employees.

 
 

We’re Here for you

As the president and CEO of Skowhegan Savings Bank, I can certainly say that it’s been an interesting few weeks for all of us. That being said, I have a few messages of assurance for you on how we are working to protect our employees and customers while still providing you with the level of service that you have come to expect and know from Skowhegan Savings Bank.

Safety

The safety and health of our customers and employees comes first. As an essential service, we have been working diligently to do our part in keeping our employees and customers as safe as possible during this pandemic. We’ve closed our branch lobbies and have limited our person to person interaction with customers to drive-up and by appointment only for both your and our employees’ safety. We have more than half of our staff working from home and are providing social distancing for all who remain in the office. I also want to recognize our team here at Skowhegan Savings for their unwavering commitment to the bank and our customers during this time. When faced with hardship, our team has answered the challenge with strength and solidarity. To all of our employees, thank you for all that you do to make Skowhegan Savings the resilient and vibrant financial institution that it is today.

Access

Our drive-up service is open, but will have reduced hours Monday through Friday 10:00am - 3:00pm beginning on Monday, April 6th. Saturday drive-up hours will remain the same where applicable. We also have state of the art digital banking services to help you manage your accounts at a distance and we encourage you to take advantage of these tools. Our online and mobile banking allows you to make deposits, pay bills, transfer money and manage your accounts without having to visit a branch. If you don’t already use these products, please visit Skowhegan.com for more information on how to enroll or give us a call and we can get you set up in no time. You can also apply for a mortgage, construction loan or home equity, remotely, from our website. Smart ATMs are located at almost all of our branches and allow you to make deposits and withdraw cash as needed. If you need any assistance, our customer service team is standing by to take your call at 800.303.9511 Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm and Saturday from 8:30am - 12:30pm. We know some of you have safe deposit boxes and we are available by appointment to give you access to them. Also, please know that your money is safe with us. We’re a financially healthy institution holding twice the capital that is required by our regulators to be considered well capitalized and additionally provide you with FDIC insurance. FDIC insurance is often overlooked in uncertain financial times but, no depositor has ever lost a penny of FDIC insured funds since 1933. Your money is safe with us.

I know many of you are hearing about the recently passed CARE Act and are looking forward to learning more about the proposed Paycheck Protection Program. Keep in mind we are still awaiting the rules from the Small Business Association before we can truly guide you and take these applications.
