SKOWHEGAN, MAINE   Skowhegan Savings is proud to announce that Carollann Ouellette has been elected to the bank's board of directors. Ouellette is the executive director of Maine Huts & Trails, a non-profit that oversees an acclaimed system of backcountry trails and eco-lodges in Maine's western mountains.

"Carolann has a unique perspective on the western Maine region and tourism in Maine as a whole," said John Witherspoon, president of Skowhegan Savings Bank. "She's held the position of director of the Maine Office of Tourism as well as owned and operated businesses in this region herself. As a board member, her extensive background in the tourism industry will provide further insight in how we serve our customers in that area."

Prior to Maine Huts & Trails, Ouellette was the director of the Maine Office of Tourism where she was named by Maine Magazine as one of "50 Mainers Boldly Leading our State". Earning her bachelors in hotel administration from Cornell University, she has owned and operated a restaurant in Jackman that was named an 'Editor's Pick' in Yankee Travel Guide to New England. She also has managed the Sugarloaf Inn and was part of the management team at the New England Outdoor Center in both Caratunk and Millinocket.

"I'm truly honored to become a part of the Skowhegan Savings Bank board of directors", said Ouellette. "The communities that Skowhegan Savings Bank serves have long been special places to me. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an outstanding organization with a dedicated team working to make a difference in those communities."

In her spare time, Ouellette enjoys skiing, fishing, hiking, paddling and is an avid traveler. She resides in Hallowell and Jackman.
