Charitable Giving

At Skowhegan Savings we pride ourselves in being a caring and committed member of the communities where our customers live, work and raise their families. To strengthen and enhance these communities, we support charitable giving, sponsorships and employee volunteer efforts. While we are committed to a wide range of organizations and programs throughout the region, we are particularly focused on activities that promote financial literacy, economic and community development, including programs that promote job creation, business retention, business growth and community enhancement. Skowhegan Savings will consider requests that fit within the following guidelines:

  • Requests that have a broad impact on the communities within our service area will be a priority.
  • Non-profit organizations will be given priority and proof of 501 (c)(3) tax status should be provided.
  • We will give priority to requests that promote education, particularly in the area of financial literacy, as well as community and economic development programs that bring business and jobs to our communities.
Although we realize there are many worthy causes seeking funding, as a general rule, we cannot make contributions to the following:

  • Individuals or programs that benefit specific individuals (with the exception of approved scholarship programs)
  • Religious organizations
  • Labor organizations
  • Political candidates or campaigns
  • Endowment funds
  • For-profit businesses or organizations

Eligible organizations may submit only one application per calendar year. Application deadlines are: February 28, May 30, August 30, and November 30.
