Hires Chris Demerchant as vice president commercial lender and promotes Lynn Andrews to assistant vice president community banker

 SKOWHEGAN, MAINE   Skowhegan Savings is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris DeMerchant as vice president commercial lender and the promotion of Lynn Andrews to assistant vice president community banker at their Fairfield branch.

DeMerchant has over 25 years of commercial lending experience in Maine, serving a broad array of customers, from those in the logging industry to the hospitality industry, to low-income housing tax credit projects and historic tax credit financing. His in-depth knowledge of leveraging area financing resources, being named the Granite State Developments #1 SBA 504 lender in 2014. DeMerchant looks to assist local businesses with their financing needs.

“I grew up the son of a Maine potato farmer, so I understand the point of the business owner that when it comes to business banking that it’s not just a loan or transaction, it’s their livelihood,” said DeMerchant.

DeMerchant is currently on the board of trustees of the Leavitt Institute, is a former board president and treasurer of Tri County Mental Health Services and was on the loan committees for the Lewiston Auburn Economic Development Corporation and Community Concepts Financial Corporation.

A Maine native, he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Thomas College.

Andrews brings over 27 years of banking experience to her role. She began her career at Skowhegan Savings in 2004 as a loan processor, later spending 14 years as a mortgage loan underwriter before being promoted to assistant vice president community banker.

With her extensive background in underwriting and a deep understanding of first-time homebuyer and construction loan programs, Andrews is dedicated to helping customers purchase, build and refinance their homes with confidence.

“Buying a home can be an emotional journey and I’m here to guide our customers every step of the way - especially for first-time homebuyers,” said Andrews. “I love seeing their excitement and being a part of turning their dream into reality.”

Andrews graduated from Kennebec Community College and went on to earn multiple degrees and certificates in banking and lending through the Risk Management Association, AllRegs Academy and the Center for Financial Training and Education Alliance, where she has also served as an instructor.

Originally from Winslow, Maine, she now resides in Madison with her husband and daughter.
